Woodturning a Baby Rattle for my Son – Padauk and Ebony

Woodturning a Baby Rattle for my Son - Padauk and Ebony
In this video I, at last, turn a Baby Rattle for my son Matthew. This rattle is a personal design that I sketched out and selected wood species for. I decided to laminate a striped pattern using Padauk, Ebony and Idigbo, with a solid Ebony handle.

This rattle was turned in two parts to hollow the inside before a few small stones were placed inside to create the rattle sound.
To keep it safe for my son to use I sanded to a smooth 400 grit finish, oiled with Walnut oil and sealed with pure Carnauba Wax.

I am very pleased with how this rattle turned out, exactly to the design that I sketched before starting. My son really seems to like it.

I hope you have enjoyed watching me turn this Padauk and Ebony baby rattle. Thank you to all my Subscribers.
