Wood Turned Walnut Bowl with Diamond Pattern

Wood Turned Walnut Bowl with Diamond Pattern
I have a walnut bowl that I roughed turned several years ago and it’s now dry and ready to be finished. It is in good shape and has not cracked during the drying process. I decided to add 2 rings at the rim of the bowl. I wanted to do the segments with an angled cut to give the seams between the segments an angle. I used this to make a diamond pattern of padauk within walnut rings. The finished bowl is a solid walnut base with the rim of walnut with a diamond pattern.

  1. Wow amazing you sharing about being a stutterer. I am a stutterer also. Sometimes it is really bad. BUT I am a salesman and commuicte very well with my customers.Funny how that works.

  2. What a guy. I struggled through speech therapy as a kid but have never even considered giving back.

  3. Hi Frank, I have never noticed your stutter. It might been because my mon stutter a little, so I grew up with her stutter. For her I know she started singing (and still do) and that has helped her very much. Thanks for your videos.

  4. Frank, this is gorgeous! How did you finish the bottom with the holes from the faceplate? I've been struggling with how to get a good finish on the bottoms of my pieces.
