In this how to video I continue with my woodturning series on using basic woodturning tools. This tutorial is about how to use the skew chisel to do a planing cut and taper the ends of our maple piece that we have been working on. In the last video we used a parting tool to set the depth on our foot massager project. This time we will shape the project using only one cut. Many woodturners are intimidated by the skew because of the risk of catches. For this reason I am only showing one cut the planing cut. I hope this helps you along your woodturning journey!
