Carving and Stippling Your Gunstock – THE RIGHT WAY – Rex Reviews

Carving and Stippling Your Gunstock - THE RIGHT WAY - Rex Reviews
Gunstock Finishing, Carving, and Checkering A to Z Part-9

Carving does require some artistic skill, so not everyone will have the same results. In this video, Kurt shows you the tools and methods you will need to employ in order to carve your gunstock like a pro. Kurt will also show you how to stipple your background in order to achieve the perception of depth to the picture. This is the last video in this series for now… be sure to let us know if there’s anything you want covered in greater depth and we can make additional tutorials as needed.

If any of you want your gunstock completed by Kurt, feel free to contact him to make an inquiry. He’d be glad to hear from you!

  1. Sorry, love the craftsmanship, but you lost me with the distracting background music. Bounce. Otherwise would have considered subscribing.

  3. It's hard to listen to you with the strange back ground music. I respectfully recommend you consider doing without it.

  4. Hello Kurt I want to thank you for your videos, they are so informative that you make me want to give checkering a try. Where would you say would be the best kit to buy and where would I purchase such a kit.

  5. What I love about carving "custom things" is that the customer don't see my fuck ups because I can "fix" them. I have yet to have a customer say wtf thats not what i was looking for (with exception to this one crazy ass bitch that wanted a deer carved into a plywood panel to go over her fireplace mantle and i asked does it matter on the stance or just the head etc and she said no. I carved an 8 point whitetail from a pic i had on my computer….apparently a prong horn is what she wated lol…after .45 mins in court I got paid 3x as much and my lawyer paid for lol) ) . Even with a few times I pointed out my fuck up the customer didnt see it as a fuck up, but i was ugh cant believe i did that. And even in some of my work with many fuck ups (in my eye) the customer gave me tips. Thats the beauty of custom work.

  6. Beautiful work!…. I like the way those diamond checkers look. I'm going to practice on some polymer slabs and then work that on my Savage Mark 2. Thanks again, Tib!

  7. Man I really wish I had spent more time at the back of the class drawing instead of always trying to read ahead and know everything before it was taught. I am a terrible artist and Ive always wanted to be able to draw

  8. very cool thanks for showing. Just wanted to mention you sound very similar to John Goodman

  9. I love carving, I saw a guy take a stock down to bare wood and do a pyrography floral design on a mosin, a ruger 10/22 and wooden AK parts. The result was pretty dang cool. I'd like to practice on a mock up of a stock to do both. These are really cool.

  10. Well worth watching. Good demonstrations of technique and assorted ideas. A++ video
